Differential has been replaced! Woo! I t ook it to grab a bit of gas and good gravy - people break their necks looking at it. I was gone for about 12 minutes. In that time span: an old lady took her eyes off the road for 10+ seconds slow-rolling an intersection, some kids in a 3 row SUV climbed over their seats at the gas station to get a look, and someone pulled up behind me at a light and recorded me driving away from the light on their enormous phablet. That’s not counting all the people who just tried to dissect what they were seeing.
The exhaust is slightly hitting the frame, so that’s annoying but not critically bad since it needs exhaust work anyways. Gas is also b acking up in the tube and that’s annoying- I get about 2/10ths of a gallon per click. Evenutally I’m going to just 3D print a whole damn tube but it’s insanely expensive to do in nylon. Tomorrow will be a trip to the smog station.

As well it should, Exocets are badass!

It’s awesome to hear you are out and about with it.
I’ve been thinking about your recent job loss , and hope things are working out well for you there. I've been there before, and it stinks. Hang in there, though!

Thanks man! I feel pretty lucky, I’ve had lots of friends and former coworkers reach out and offer introductions to all kinds of people and firms so I’m spending a few days (maybe a couple weeks since I’m headed to Austin for Indycar - non refundable so much as well) and then I’ll really dig in. I’m treating this period kind of like a monetarily austere vacation. It’s been so long (6+ years) since I’ve had free time to take care of what I call “life debt” - the things you mean to do but don’t have time.

Looking forward to the next video, I showed it to my wife as part of my long term plan of following in your foot steps. Since it’ll be years/decades/forever until I can afford this type of project I’m just gonna start warming her up to the idea now. My dream would be the Rocketeer kit in one, although I go back and forth between exocet and catfish.

Glad to hear you got the diff sorted. I’ll be very curious to see what you might
do with the filler since mine isn’t particularly great either. The guy who built mine just hacked down
the original one to where it still
“works” but is super touchy about what position the nozzle
needs to be in to not immediately trigger the pump’s auto-stop.
Also welcome to the “you’re now the biggest distraction on the road” club. I’m still not entirely used to it lol.
Driving mine back from Colorado was 8 hours of
of people passing my husband in the Outback behind me
, suddenly seeing
the Exocet that was previously obscured by said Outback
, and then
slowing down
for several seconds to a minute+
while they tried to figure out what I was driving or take pictures.
I’m also still trying to figure out fun ways to interact with people at stop lights who are trying to ask me questions while I’m wearing a full-face helmet.

Haha, I kind of want to have one of the Wiley Coyote signs. I just ordered a vinyl sticker for the back with my Youtube channel name on it, that way anyone behind me at a light takes a picture of my Youtube channel as well!
I’ll let you know on the filler. If I come up with a good solution, I’ll post it up. . I didn’t use a stock neck - I hacked off as much as I could but ended up just buying a generic replacement neck online and adapting it with a coupler, fuel hose, and my 3d printed nylon J-bend. There’s a small lip inside the 3d printed part that may be frothing the fuel a bit or I have too much happening between the tank’s little relief system to let the air pressure back into the neck from the top of the tank. There are 3 or 4 90 degree bends there.
